Would You Rather… [Choose Your Mentor Edition]

Welcome back to another Would You Rather! I posted seven more polls on my Instagram where you had to choose a mentor for different situations and you guys delivered some interesting answers. Again, we’ll be breaking down the results and discussing them. Have a seat, this will be a fun one.

Would you rather be taught how to fly spaceships by: Spensa Nightshade / Ender Wiggin?

I wasn’t quite sure how this would turn out, since Spensa and Ender are both popular in their own way, but Ender has definitely made a larger impact on the sci-fi genre. Yet while Ender’s GameĀ is the better known book compared to Spensa’s Skyward, I think I would personally have gone with Spensa because I find Ender to be more intimidating to approach.

Would you rather master programming with: Cress Darnel / Foaly?

IMG-8596

This one was a tough decision on my end, but you guys spoke and Cress came through with the majority vote. I think I might hop on the bandwagon for this one: Foaly is cool, but I’d take a chance to get to know Cress better any time.

Would you rather learn hand-to-hand combat with: June Iparis / Elias Veturius?

Okay, now I’m going to go against the majority and pick June. I was surprised by Elias’ popularity in this poll (I think Legend and An Ember in the Ashes are equally well-known, but then again not everything is a popularity contest), and I can understand that — he’s a skilled fighter and he’s good in battle.

But… I think I prefer June as a character šŸ™‚

Would you rather learn misdirection with: Kaz Brekker / Sabetha Belacoros?

IMG-8598

Ooh, this was an interesting one. Honestly, I don’t trust Kaz or Sabetha — if you had to walk into the same room with either of them, you’d leave without any of your valuables. And knowing how shifty both are, I wouldn’t be surprised if they kept a few of their best tricks up their sleeves, just in case they needed them in the future. They might be able to teach me a few tricks, but they wouldn’t be anything too special.

Still, if I really had to pick, I’d go for Kaz. At least I know more about him than Sabetha.

Would you rather take a cooking class with: Emoni Santiago / Ma Ingalls?

IMG-8599

Okay, I was really interested to see the results of this one — and Ma Ingalls came through with an overwhelming majority. I loveĀ Little House on the PrairieĀ and there’s something so heartwarming about the series, but I think I would go with Emoni here. Because creating good food that can make people feel things? Yes, please.

Would you rather be taught an art class by: Kiko Himura / Eliza Mirk?

IMG-8600

It was only after I set Kiko against Eliza when I realized I was choosing between two different medias. Kiko works with traditional art (paintings, pencil sketches, etc.), but Eliza does digital art (she has a webcomic and everything!). I’d love to have a conversation with Kiko because traditional art is amazing, but I think I’d benefit more from a digital arts class with Eliza (and maybe some storytelling tips?).

Would you rather hone your sharpshooting skills with: Jesper Fahey / Amani Al’Hiza?

IMG-8601

I guess I should have seen this coming, given the popularity of Six of Crows. But I think Amani deserves some credit: she and Jesper are both excellent sharpshooters with some handy extra abilities on the side (can’t say specifics because spoilers!). That’s why I’m going to refuse Jesper his landslide win and side with Amani on this one šŸ˜‰

That’s all for now!

If you didn’t get to participate, let me know what you would have picked for the polls! Otherwise, tell me: is Ender intimidating, or is it just me? Would you trust Kaz and/or Sabetha? What’s a dish you’d love to make with Emoni or Ma Ingalls?

Make your mark,
