Hiatus Announcement + the Stuck at Home Book Tag

So… I guess I’m taking time off.

Hiatus stuff

Before I get on with the Stuck at Home Book Tag, I just want to let you know that I’m planning on taking August off from posting on my blog. I’ll still be around to answer comments and such, but I’ve been wanting a longer break rather than just one week off here and there so I can properly recharge.

Of course, it’s not just refilling the creativity bank. I have a lot on my plate at the moment, most of it being school things and deadlines that need to be met (essays, exam prep, other projects, etc.). I also want to dedicate more time to planning and rewriting a specific book I’ve been working on since 2015 (I love it that much, hehe).

If all goes well, I’ll see you in September!

The Stuck at Home Book Tag

THE RULES:

  • Thank the person who nominated you (thanks Jaedyn and Juli!)
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Not much, honestly. I recently finished W. R. Gingell’s Between Jobs and a reread of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca, although that doesn’t quite count as current. I am, however, partly through a reread of Elizabeth Acevedo’s With the Fire on High.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE “CAN’T-LEAVE-THE-HOUSE” ACTIVITY?

I’m not entirely sure, because I just like being at home? But it is nice to sit down and write, or read, or paint, or even just cook. Some other fun things include playing music, singing show tunes when no one’s home, and organizing my room.

A BOOK YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO READ FOREVER?

My TBR has been growing, but a book that’s been on there for some time is Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson.

AN INTIMIDATING BOOK ON YOUR TBR

Ooh, this is a good question. I’ve been wanting to read Midnight in Chernobyl for a while, but both the subject matter and the book length are quite intimidating.

TOP 3 PRIORITY BOOKS ON YOUR TBR

  1. I Wanna Be Where You Are, Kristina Forest (even though ebooks are cheaper, I’ve been trying to track down a physical copy of this so the author earns more royalties from it.)
  2. We Are Not From Here, Jenny Torres Sanchez (also looking for a physical copy of this because it sounds so good)
  3. Leaving Wishville by Mel Torrefranca (support indie authors!) or The Miracles of the Namiya General Store by Keigo Higashino (because I’ve been wanting to read more Asian literature and this one sounds fascinating)

RECOMMEND A SHORT BOOK

Okay, if you like books in verse: The Crossover, Kwame Alexander (MG); or Long Way Down, Jason Reynolds (YA)

If you like poetry, pure and simple: A Poet’s Dictionary, Havilah Gael

If worldbuilding and sci-fi interest you: Foundation, Isaac Asimov

If you like dark academia and genderbent Sherlock Holmes retellings: A Study in Charlotte, Brittany Cavallero

If you like short story anthologies: Hungry Hearts, edited by Elsie Chapman

If you like graphic novels: Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi; El Deafo by Cece Bell

If you just want a fluffy rom com: 10 Blind Dates, Ashley Elston

RECOMMEND A LONG BOOK

If you like fantasy: The Way of Kings, Brandon Sanderson

If you want an older sci-fi: Dune, Frank Herbert

If you want a heist: The Lies of Locke Lamora, Scott Lynch

SOMETHING YOU’D LOVE TO DO WHILE STUCK AT HOME

I’d love to finally learn how to sew using a machine (because hand sewing does take quite a while), except the problem here is that I said the exact same thing last year and I still haven’t quite figured everything out yet.

WHAT DO YOU PLAN ON READING NEXT?

I plan on starting Brian McBride’s Every Bright and Broken Thing sometime soon. Other than that, I’ve been wanting to reread some things lying around the house: maybe some old middle grade books (Ruby Redfort, anyone?), books on my shelf that haven’t been touched in a while, or maybe, just maybe, I’ll finish War and Peace.

That’s all for now!

I feel like so many people have already done this tag, so I’m not going to nominate anyone. If you haven’t, however, and would like to do the tag, please feel free to take these questions!

I’ll see you soon! Have a wonderful August ❤
