Would You Rather… [Choose Your Sidekick Edition]

So on Monday, I posted a couple of polls on my Instagram asking a couple of ‘would you rather’ questions where you had to pick the character you’d side with in a hypothetical situation. Today, we’re going to be breaking these polls down and discussing them — hope you’ll tag along for the ride šŸ˜‰

Would you rather get lost in the woods with: Kvothe / Halt O’Carrick?

Okay, I definitely agree with the majority on this one. Being a Ranger, I’d trust Halt with my safety when it comes to spending time in the woods. Plus, Rangers are trained in navigation. We’d be out of the woods in no time (maybe give or take a couple days, depending on how large these hypothetical woods are).

Would you rather partner up in laser tag with: Linh Cinder/Annabeth Chase?

IMG-7923

I kind of saw this one coming. Cinder and Annabeth are both popular, but Annabeth is definitely the more well-known of the two.

I honestly don’t know which girl I’d pick — I like them both. Sassy mechanic or loyal demigod… agh, I think I’m going to go with Cinder on this one. Besides, since Cinder is a cyborg, she could probably use her metal hand or leg to reflect laser beams towards her opponents.

Would you rather travel the world with: Todd Hewitt / Donatella Dragna?

Interestingly, Tella won this one completely. I don’t actually think that any of these characters would actually want to travel the whole world, but Tella is definitely hungry for adventure, so I’m agreeing with you all on this one.

Would you rather spend a day with: Shallan Davar / Citra Terranova?

IMG-7926

Maybe Shallan and Citra aren’t as well known and are more popular within their genres (fantasy and YA sci-fi/dystopian respectively), but responses were fairly mixed on this one. I’m going to go with the majority here once more — while Citra is amazing, I feel like I would connect on a deeper level with Shallan. We’d probably end up talking about books and learning and maybe her past trauma.

Would you rather have lunch with: Rebecca de Winter / Heathcliff?

IMG-7927

I purposely picked some pretty well known villains from classic novels just to see what the response would be. Maybe Heathcliff is more well-known, and that’s why most of you went with him. But honestly, given the choice, I’d go for Heathcliff as well. At least I know what he’s truly like, since Rebecca is only ever described through other people’s words. Plus, Rebecca as a character is deeply unsettling. Lunch with Heathcliff might be awkward, but a meal with Rebecca would be downright terrifying.

Would you rather go to a concert with: Beck Keverich / Brianna Jackson?

IMG-7928

I barely got any votes for this one, but that’s likely because neither of these characters are relatively well known. Beck’s fromĀ A Thousand Perfect NotesĀ by C. G. Drews whileĀ Bri is fromĀ On the Come UpĀ by Angie Thomas, and the one thing they have in common is their love for music and the ability to express themselves through it.

Since Beck is totally a classical nerd, he’s more likely to drag me to a Beethoven concert, while Bri might take me along to a rap battle. I love Bri, but I’m going to side with Beck on this one.

Would you rather break into government facilities with: Day / Katniss Everdeen?

IMG-7929

Whoa, Katniss totally slayed here. I actually disagree on this one; Day would be my first choice. While Katniss is an absolute boss when it comes to combat and strategy, Day’s broken into banks, hospitals and a whole lot more places where he shouldn’t be. When it comes to Day and heists, I’m pretty certain I can trust him to pull things off quickly and successfully.

Would you rather be kidnapped by: Queen Levana Blackburn / Count Olaf?

Another villain one! I was wondering who you guys thought would be the nicer villain, but wow, we have a tie here.

I’d personally go with Count Olaf, because he probably wouldn’t kill me right away. Olaf is devious, certainly, but I think Levana is far less likely to go easy on me. Since Levana could legitimately arrange a self-disemboweling for me with her mind control, I’m definitely more inclined to go with the less scary villain.

That’s all for now!

Let me know if you liked this style of post, I’ve really enjoyed playing around with what kind of content I can create and I actually found this to be really fun. It was great to be able to interact with you and get your thoughts on all of these book characters.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Make your mark,
