Twenty Questions Book Tag!

The wonderful Ash @ Ash Ronnel tagged me for the Twenty Questions book tag, so it is my pleasure to sit down today and chat about books. Ready? Grab a glass of water and let’s go.

1. How many books are too many in a series?

In my opinion, a series can be as long as it needs to be as long as it doesn’t drag on. A couple examples of series I’ve stopped reading are Warriors and Wings of Fire. I loved those two and I’ll return to the older books every so often, but my journey with them has come to an end.

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

They’re super cruel, but fun. And they effectively get you to read the next book in a series, or the next chapter in a novel, at the very least. But if you give me a cliffhanger at the end of a conclusion to a series, I will smite thee.

Just kidding, I won’t. I just don’t like cliffhangers at the end of series conclusions.

3. Hardcover or paperback?

Both. Hardcovers are special to me because I rarely ever get them, so most of the time I have to settle for paperback. But no matter the type of book, the story inside is what counts!

4. Favorite book?

AHAHAHAHAA

Fortunately, I have come prepared! Recently, I compiled a list of my favorite books (just so I could answer this specific question, I mean do you know how many people ask this?)

Right, now, my favorite books are:

  1. A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews
  2. 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons
  3. A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

5. Least favorite book?

Oof. I don’t hate a lot of books, but the two that come to mind first are All the Bright Places and Looking for Alaska. I came away from those two reads feeling discouraged and hopeless.

6. Love triangles: yay or nay?

I have mixed feelings about love triangles. If you’re going to do one, make sure to do it well, because a lot of the time love triangles drag on and create unnecessary agony for me as the reader.

7. The most recent book you couldn’t finish?

I rarely ever DNF a book, but I do remember returning a book I hadn’t quite started to the library a while back. It was due 🙁

8. A book you’re currently reading?

I’m currently reading A is for Arsenic: the poisons of Agatha Christie by Kathryn Harkup. It’s a fascinating book that delves into the poisons Christie uses, the science behind them, their effects, and more. And, uh *coughs* I’m definitely reading for research purposes.

9. Last book you recommended to someone?

Hmm, it’s probably either 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons or The Boy Who Steals Houses by C. G. Drews.

Also, fun hydration game: take a sip of water every time I say 100 Days of Sunlight, haha.

10. Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

Okay, it’s definitely a classic. It might be Sense and Sensibility (1811)? I’m not too sure, but apparently I’ve read quite a number of books from the 19th century.

11. Newest book you’ve read?

It’s gotta be 100 Days of Sunlight. It was published only a couple of weeks ago!

12. Favorite author?

Well definitely Cait (or C. G. Drews, as she is known in the writing world) for one. Her audience interaction is stunning, her voice is clever and humorous, and she has a gorgeous writing style. Then of course you have the fabulous Abbie Emmons (I actually interviewed her a while back!) who has an amazing YouTube channel and a beautiful personality.

And of course, wonderful writer friends like K. E. Stanton, Charis Rae, Madison Grace, and Anika Walkes.

I must add though, that although Stephanie Garber is not my favorite author I absolutely adore her writing style. I can only describe her prose as magical.

13. Buying books or borrowing?

Probably buying, because my library is rather limited, but there are things I love about being able to borrow books:

  1. No commitment! If I don’t love a book, I can simply return it. Yay for no shelf clutter!
  2. Stress-free way to try new books / genres
  3. You don’t have to buy a book in order to read it.

14. A book you dislike that everyone seems to love?

Not gonna lie, All the Bright Places hits the mark here. I wish I liked it, but it just wasn’t for me.

15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?

BOOKMARKS. I will protect all my shelf darlings.

16. A book you can always reread?

Hmm, probably 100 Days of Sunlight. It’s that good of a book–it’s sunshiney, warm, positive, funnyIt has a great message and relatable characters, I mean, what more can I ask for from a book?

(I also reviewed it, if you’d like to know more!)

17. Can you read while listening to music?

I’m not too sure about this. When I get into the zone when reading, everything around me just fades to white noise.

18. One POV or multiple POV’s?

Either! As long as it’s done well, I’m fine.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Ooh, this one definitely depends. If it’s a classic, that’ll usually take multiple days, because classics are long and can be tricky to get into them sometimes. If a book is good, though, I’ll probably read it in one sitting, but being in school means I often don’t have much free time, so I might end up reading it over a couple of days, too.

20. Who do you tag?

I tag:

Katheryn @ Katheryn Nicole

Anika @ Anika Walkes

Charis @ Charis Rae

Gaby @ Quaint & Darling

Emma @ Emma’s Books

Make your mark 😉
