Come December, I will have been writing on WordPress for three years, and now that it’s time to renew my domain registration, I have some thoughts.
one. oh wow it’s been three years?
Three years on this site is pretty cool! Time passes really quickly, and it barely feels like a year has gone by since I first wrote that ‘welcome’ post. Even though I’ve taken the occasional hiatus here and there, creating three years’ worth of content has definitely been a journey.
two. oh no it’s been three years
I genuinely can’t remember if I’ve said it somewhere, but my signoff was supposed to be temporary, at least until I could make a better one. Except it managed to stick around for three years.
On a more serious note, I’m not always proud of my past content. Despite the fact that it’s only been three years, I’m still human and changing (as people do). It’s sometimes hard to look back and see how my past content doesn’t always reflect the person I am now — whether that be in writing style, opinions, or something else.
Time can do a lot to a person, and in another three years, I will likely have changed again in some way.
three. wait did you just say “another three years”?
So about a month ago, I got my standard annual Bluehost email. The email is basically Bluehost going hello!! here’s your bill for the next three years (domain only, I still have to pay for the other things annually).
And looking at the raised prices, the commitment to another three years of making content on here… I had some more thoughts.
I wondered if it was worth it to keep blogging. I’ve run into so many problems that I can’t seem to fix (I’ve failed to create an email list, I can’t link my blog on Instagram and Facebook) and it’s hard to think of content on a regular basis.
And yet, it’s nice to have a place in the void to say things sometimes. I love analyzing things, chatting with the community about tropes and other topics, and bringing joy to others with my content.
Maybe it’s worth it.
That’s all for now… I think
Blogging has always been complicated for me, but I’m so very grateful for all the people I’ve met and the ability to connect with others through this medium. Thank you for all the times you’ve clicked on a post, left a like, or wrote a comment; I genuinely appreciate it. If this blog has brought you joy or taught you anything, then the work has been worth it.
Here’s to another three years 💛
All the best,
