Today I thought I’d sit down and lay out some of my current favorite short films / webseries onto the table. Before I do, though, I wanted to let you know that many of these include the same cast members (what can I say, it’s like Starkid/Shipwrecked/Pemberly Digital are all linked).
Hope you enjoy!
1. I Ship It — Yulin Kuang
I really like Yulin Kuang’s work (here’s her channel), but this is probably my favorite of what she’s done. The editing and the color grading and the set design and all the little details in this one make the film very visually appealing. Also, the music is fun.
2. The Case of the Gilded Lily — Shipwrecked
This one is based on a film noir, and it’s a fun one.
3. Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Dinner Party — Shipwrecked
It’s a murder mystery comedy! With classic authors! What more could you want from a show :’)
4. Mailboxes — Grace Rolek
I really like this one for the nuanced, slice-of-life feel to it. I also like the rough feel of the editing in this film, because it really adds to the whole tone of the story.
Side note: if you’re uncomfortable with language in films, I’d skip out on this one.
That’s all for now!
I hope you found some entertainment from this short post. Have a lovely week!
